A Bag a Person Really Helps!
Mammoth Lakes, CA – Take pride in your neighborhood and volunteer to help clean up our Town on Saturday, June 11, 2011. Starting at 8:00 a.m., grab a bag and start cleaning up your street, neighborhood or town. At 12:00 p.m., please join us for a complimentary community picnic at Mammoth Creek Park. This annual event is sponsored by the Town of Mammoth Lakes and its many community partners.

"Town Clean-Up Day is an immense undertaking that would not be possible without the generous support of our many businesses, non-profit organizations, and volunteers," commented, Stuart Brown Town of Mammoth Lakes Recreation Manager.

Complimentary orange trash bags are available for the collection of trash - not household waste or pine cones/needles - (maximum 5 at one-time) from the following locations: Stellar Brew & Natural Deli, Looney Bean, Old NY Deli & Bagel, Mammoth Business Essentials, RE/MAX of Mammoth, Snowcreek Athletic Club, Town Offices, the Mammoth Lakes California Welcome Center, Mammoth Lakes Tourism Office, and the Mammoth Disposal Transfer Station located at 59 Commerce Drive.

"We would like to thank our community in advance for their commitment to grab a bag, roll up their sleeves and clean up our fabulous town. Just think how beautiful Mammoth Lakes would look if everyone filled up a bag of trash!" stated Brown.

From Monday, June 13 through Wednesday, June 15, 2011 Mammoth Disposal will be picking up Town supplied orange trash bags free of charge for private property owners. Orange bags need to be available for collection no later than Sunday evening, June 12, 2011.

There will be no collection of loose or bulky items, paint, or oil (refrigerators, appliances, mattresses etc.) from private properties on Saturday, June 11, 2011. The Mammoth Disposal Transfer Station will receive these items free of charge only on June 11, 2011 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

The Town, Inyo National Forest and Mammoth Lakes Fire Department encourage the recycling of materials, including pine needles, pine cones and tree limbs less than 12" in diameter. Residents are able to bring these materials to the Mammoth Disposal Transfer Station free of charge on Saturday, June 11 for chipping between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

Neighborhood volunteers are needed to coordinate the 10 designated Town clean-up areas. If you are able to volunteer as a neighborhood coordinator (there can be more than one volunteer for each area), or would like to volunteer your group or organization to clean-up our town either before or during Town Clean-Up Day, please contact Recreation Supervisor John Connolly at (760) 934-8989 ext. 234 or

Keep on the look-out for more information about Town Clean-Up Day, and the Town thanks you in advance for taking pride in your community.
